How to Delete temporary files from your hard drive
compressed old files. temporary Internet files. downloaded program files. offline files.
recycle bin contents. Windows temporary files. setup log files.
Unneeded and temporary files can quickly accumulate on your computer from all the internet sites that you have visited and from programs that you have downloaded and installed. Most temporary files are harmless, but,spyware and virus's often hide among temporary files. Also these files take up a lot of disk space. This can slow your system down.
To clean up your files using Disk Cleanup: Follow these steps.
Click on Start then Click on run :
Type cleanmgr in the run box and click OK
Select the Drive you want to clean up.
The Disk Cleanup window below will appear.
The Disk Cleanup will calculate how much space you will free up once you delete the temporary files. The calculating process takes 2-5 minutes to run .
Delete your windows temp files
When the Disk Cleanup for (C:) window appears, do the following:
NOTE: This is a safe application. You can check all the boxes and delete everything and it can not harm your computer or operating system.
Put a check in the box of all the type of files you want deleted from your hard drive or check all the boxes.
NOTE: You can view temporary files by clicking the View Files button. You can right-click on selected files if you do not wish to delete all of the files in a folder. Close the folder when you have finished.
Click OK
The Disk Cleanup window for (C:) box will appear like the one below asking if you are sure you want to perform these actions.
Select Yes
The Disk Cleanup window will appear like the one below showing the cleaning process taking place on drive (C:).
The window will close when all of the temporary files folders have been cleaned.
Your done with this step.
